Mrs. Anna Unruh

Mrs. Anna Unruh, nee Jantz, daughter of Peter and Katherina Jantz, was born January 12, 1852, at Karolswalde, by Ostroga, in Poland, Russia, and died at 2:30 a.m., July 6, 1940, at the age of 88 years, 5months, and 14 days.

She was baptized upon confession of faith in the Lord Jesus Christ on November 17, 1867, by the Elder Tobias Unruh, and received into fellowship of the Mennonite church at Karolswalde.

She was united in marriage on January 29, 1874, with Henry A. Unruh, who died July 19, 1920. They were privileged to live and share together the joys and sorrows of holy wedlock for 46 years, 5 months, and 20 days. She lived as widow 19 years, 11 months, and 13 days.

To this union were born 12 children: 9 sons and 3 daughters, of which one son Adam preceded her in dea3th in 1935.

They emigrated form Russia to America when many left the country for religious freedom in 1874, and came to Kansas and settled in McPherson county, where they established a home. Later they moved to Marion county, where she lived till her death.

She was taken into the Friedenstal Mennonite church on March 26, 1913.
