Mrs. Evelyn Wiebe.

Our mother, Mrs. Evelyn Wiebe, nee (Evelyn) Schmidt, was born June 12, 1860, in South Russia in the village of Karlsdorf. She was baptized upon her confession of faith in the year 1874 by Elder Tobias Unruh and joined the Mennonite church.

In the fall of 1879 she was united in holy matrimony with John G. Wiebe, who passed away in the spring of 1926. This union was blessed with ten children, two of them died in infancy and a son at the age of fourteen years.

In the year 1892 she with her family came to America and settled on a farm near Hillsboro, Kansas. Soon afterward they moved to Newton, remaining here for nine years. In 1904 the family moved to Coy, Oklahoma, where they settled on a farm. After living there for fifteen years they decinded [sic] to leave the farm, and in 1919 the family returned to Newton, Kansas. Here they lived at 917 Logan street.

Our dear mother became very ill in December and has suffered much during the three months of her illness. She passed away at 7:30 o'clock Saturday evening, march 25, at the Axtell Christina hospital. She had the blessed assurance of salvation through Christ Jesus, was a sincere Christian, and a faithful member of the First Mennonite church.

She leaves to mourn her departure her seven children, 28 grandchildren one sister in Canada, one brother in Russia and a host of relatives and friends.

"Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord from henceforth; yea saith the Spirit that they may rest from their labor and their works do follow them." — The Children.
