Mrs. Albert C. Voth

On August 16 about 6:30 A. M. Mrs. Albert C. Voth died in the Bethel hospital in Newton, Kansas. About a week previously she complained about severe headache and general weakness. They came from Walton (where Mr. Voth is superintendent of the schools) to Newton to see a doctor, who about two weeks before had made a thorough examination of her system (blood pressure, activity of the heart, kidneys, etc.) and had found everything normal. But his physician being out of town, they went to another, who at once diagnosed a serious case of acute Brights disease, and sent her to the Bethel hospital. Another physician was called into consultation, but in spite of the best skill of the doctors and the faithful and untiring care of the sisters she grew rapidly worse, several convulsions soon aggravating the case. On Aug. 15 a little girl was born and after that she was rapidly failing. The last 20 hours she was unconscious. The many earnest prayers from many hearts could not save the precious life. God's ways and thoughts are higher than ours. In the early dawn of Aug. 16 she peacefully passed away into a better world. At the bedside were, besides her so deeply bereaved husband, members of both families. We can hardly realize that she has left us, and ask, Lord why thus? But we humbly bow to His decrees fully beleaving [sic] that in this case too the Master's word will beocme true: "What I do thou knowest not now but thou shalt know hereafter."

The deceased, Margaret Unruh, was born March 21, 1899, she spent hear [sic] childhood in the home of her parents. On June 8, 1919 she became, through baptism, a member of the Alexanderwohl church and remained so until her death.

After she had graduated from the district school she studied four years at Bethel College, whereupon she taught school for two years near Hesston, Kan. Being a friend of children she found great joy in this work.

On Aug. 7, 1921 she was united in marriage with Albert C. Voth with whom she lived happily for 7 years and 8 days. After their marriage they spent another year in Bethel College where Mr. Voth had also studied for several years already. She leaves to her husband, who deeply mourns his great loss, a son over 5½ years old and the little newborn daughter. — The funeral took place last Sunday afternoon (Aug. 19th) from the Mennonite church at Goessel, Kansas, a brief service conducted by Rev. C. C. Wedel of Goessel, having previously taken place in the home of the widowed mother of the deceased. In the church Rev. Wedel preached in German on Ps. 68, 21 and Rev. H. Riesen in English on the text Revelation 21, 4. Besides several several [sic] hymns sung by the congregation, a mixed quartet rendered several beautiful selections. at the grave Rev. H. A. Fast from Bethel College offered a prayer in English. The attendence [sic] at the funeral was very large. it is estimated that over 2000 had come from near and ar. Many had brought or sent beautiful floral offerings.

We bow to God's will and beckon the departed one, so dear to us, a last farewell with the assurance of a joyous reunion in the better world and the glorious life beyond.
