Judith Baergen Thiessen

Judith Baergen Thiessen was born May 19, 1863 at Hamberg, Russia.

In August 1874 she came with her parents to America and they settled near Inman, Kansas.

In her youth she realized that she needed a personal Savior, found forgiveness of her sins and was baptized by Elder Gaeddert on March 2nd, 1884, and united with the Hoffnungsau Church. In 1921 she united with the Inman Mennonite Church and remained a faithful member to the end.

On May 2, 1886, she was united in marriage with Abr. Thiessen. To this union nine children were born, of whom three died in infancy and one son, Abr., at the age of 23 in 1914.

She died on July 9, 1927 at 10:30 P. M. at the age of 64 years, 1 month and 20 days.

The funeral services were held at the Hoffnungsau Church Wednesday, July 13. Rev. D. C. Ewert officiated and was assisted by Rev. A. j. Dyck and Rev. Abr. Ratzlaff. The Hoffnungsu Ladies' Quartette rendered a number of beautiful selections during the services. Rev. Cor. Thiessen spoke at the cemetery. The remains were laid to rest in the Hoffnunsau cemetery. — Inman Review.
