Our dear father, Heinrich Thiesen, son of Jacob Thiesen and Katherine Block, was born in South Russia on January 13, 1863. In the year 1874 he came with his parents to America and they settled in Marion country [sic], Kansas.
On October 8, 1882, he was baptized by Jacob Buller and received into the Alexanderwohl church. When the Tabor church was founded, he joined the same. On December 14, 1886, he was married to Anna Goertz. He lived in the state of matrimony for 53 years, 7 months and 10 days.
Four children were born to them,three sons and one daughter. Two sons died since last fall and he often spoke of leave-taking. On Easter day he said to us he would likely not eat with us another Easter. Shortly before Easter he wished to partake of the Lord's Supper, which was thereupon given to him at his house. Since he needed more care we brought him to the Bethesda Home for the Aged on April 25, where he enjoyed his new home.
His bladder trouble increased. Pneumonia was added to this. During the last three days he was seriously ill. He died on May 24 at 7:30 in the evening and has survived mother 10 months. He reached an age of 78 years, 4 months and 22 days. He leaves one son; Mr. and Mrs. David H. Thiesen, one daughter, Agnes of the home, and three grandsons. He is survived by one brother, Jacob B. Thiesen; one brother-in-law, Frank H. Goertz, and three sisters-in-law.
Funeral services were held on May 28 at 2:30 p.m. at the Tabor church with Rev. P. H. Hiebert officiating. The Guhr quartet sang two songs at the church, "In that Beautiful Land" and "Will the Circle be Unbroken" and at the grave, "We are Going Down the Valley." Interment was at the Tabor cemetery under the direction of G. H. Bergen of Bergen's Mortuary of Goessel.

Heinrich Thießen, Sohn von Jakob Thießen und Katharina Block ward geboren in Süd-Rußland den 13. Jan. 1863. Im Jahre 1874 kam er mit seinen Eltern nach Amerika und siedelten in Marion County, Kansas an. Den 8. Okt. 1882 wurde er getauft von Jakob Buller und in die Alexanderwohl Gemeinde aufgenommen. Als die Tabor Gemeinde gegründet wurde schloß er sich derselben bei. Den 14. Dez. 1886 trat er in den Ehestand mit Anna Goertz. Im Ehestand gelebt 53 J. 7 M. 10 T. Kinder wurden ihnen geboren, drei Söhne und eine Tochter. Zwei Söhne starben im Kindesalter. Seine Kräfte nahmen ab seit dem Herbst und er sprach öfters von Abschied nehmen. Ostern sagte er, noch einmal würde er wohl nicht Ostern mit uns essen. Kurz vor Ostern wünschte er noch das Abendmahl zu empfangen, was ihm dann auch in seinem Hause gereicht wurde. Da er mehr Pflege brauchte brachte man ihm zum Bethesda Altenheim am 25. April wo es ihm auch gut ging. Sein Blasenleiden nahm zu. Es kam noch Lungenfieber hinzu. Die letzten drei Tage war er schwer krank. Er starb den 24. Mai 1941 halb acht Uhr abends und hat die Mutter 10 Monate überlebt. Sein Alter war 78 J. 4 M. und 11 T. Er hinterläßt einen Sohn David H. und eine Tochter Agnes, eine Schwiegertochter und drei Großsöhne. Es überleben ihn ein Bruder, ein Schwager und drei Schwägerinnen. Begräbnisfeier am 28.
