BERNE CHURCH WORKER MEETS TRAGIC DEATH

Berne, Indiana, Oct. 18 — Funeral services for Mrs. Ben Sprunger, 51, who was almost instantly killed Sunday evening when struck by a speeding car at the Mennonite church on W. main St. will be held Friday morning at 9:00 o'clock from the home on North Jefferson street and at 9:30 from the Mennonite church.

Rev. C. H. Suckau will officiate, speaking in English, Rev. P. R. Schroeder arrived this afternoon from Freeman, S. D., and will speak in German.

Mrs. Sprunger, whose life was devoted to the interest of missions and church activities worked in close sympathy with Rev. Schroeder during the sixteen years of his ministry here. Mr. Sprunger is a deacon of the church and with his wife, were intimate friends of the pastor who comes to deliver final words of comfort to the bereaved husband and the host of relatives and friends.

The passing of Mrs. Sprunger threw a pall of sorrow over the entire community. Her work brought her into contact with not only the large congregation of which she was a member but with individuals and organizations outside the church body.
