Mrs. Philip Sprunger

Mrs. Philip Sprunger, 67, died suddenly Wednesday evening, Jan 12, at her home on North Jefferson street at 10:20 o’clock. She had enjoyed good health and only that evening had attended prayer meeting at the Missionary church. Her unexpected death came as an unpleasant surprise to her many relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held Saturday morning. The service at the home will be conducted at 9:00 o’clock and at the Mennonite church, of which she was a faithful member since early girlhood, at 9:30 o’clock.

After Mrs. Sprunger returned from the prayer service Wednesdaw [sic] evening, she retired. Shortly after 10:00 o’clock, Mr. Sprunger was aroused by his wife, who was suffering with intense pain. He summoned a local physician immediately and returned to the bedside just in time to see her take the last gaps [sic] of breath.

Death was caused by a heart attack brought on by an acute case of indigestion.

Mrs. Sprunger was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Christian B. Lehman and was born May 31, 1859. She grew to womanhood on a farm near Berne. On March 14, 1880, she was married to Philip Sprunger. In about 1883, they moved to Berne on North Jefferson street, where they have lived since.

Eleven children were born to the union, of which nine, together with her husband, survive to mourn her sudden death.

Mrs. Sprunger reached the age of 67 years, 7 months and 12 days. — Adams Co. Witness.
