Joseph Schrag

Joseph Schrag, son of Joseph and Anna Stucky Schrag, first saw the light of this world on October 17, 1875 near Moundridge, McPherson County, Kansas, and died at one o'clock A. M., June 22, 1930 near Lakin, Kansas, at the age of 54 years, 8 months and 5 days. He was the seventh child of a group of eight and the first one to be born in America.

In his youthful years he heard God's "knocking at his heart's door pleading for an enrance [sic]." He allowed the blessed Christ to enter in and thus found the salvation and life for his own soul in the only "Lamb of God slain before the foundation of the world was laid." Rev. 13:8.l On October 4th, 1891 he was baptized upon his own personal confession of faith in Christ Jesus and His shed blood. This baptism was performed by Elder Jacob Stucky.

On May 3, 1898 he entered into Holy Matrimony with sister Elisabeth Goering sharing the joys and hardships of life with her during the period of the last 22 years, 1 month and 19 days. This Union was blest of God with nine children; all of them living, and all present today mourning the loss of the home with their mother.
