— J. B. [sic D.] Schmidt, a well known citizen of Hillsboro and father of D. J. Schmidt of the Oliver & Holbert Hardware Co., died at his home Tuesday afternoon, Jan. 31. The deceased had been prominent in public affairs of Marion county, and leaves a large number of friends, who are stricken with grief. Funeral services, which were held at the Alexnderwohl church last Sunday afternoon, were very largely attended. Rev. Peter Buller, Rev. C. C. Wedel, and Rev. P. H. Unruh were the ministers who addressed the congregation. Mr. Schmidt was 68 years old at the time of his death.
