Andreas B. Richert, geboren in polish [sic] Rußland am 19. Juni 1867, kam 1874 nach Philadelphia und von dort nach Great Bend, Kansas, dann nach Newton und dann nach Iowa, wo er 3 Jahre wohnte. Im Herbst 1878 kam er nach Hutchinson County, Süd Dakota. Als er 17 Jahre alt war ward er getauft und Gemeindeglied. Als er 1910 nach Montana zog, schloß er sich der Bethlehem Mennonitengemeinde an als Gründungsglied, und blieb Glied da. Am 16. Sept. 1887 heiratete er Frl. Eva Deckert, Tochter von Peter Deckert, Marion Jc., Süd Dakota. Es wurden ihnen 10 Kinder geboren; 3 starben vor ihm: Fred als Kind; Nettie 26, und Albert 28 Jahre alt. Ihre Ehe dauerte fast 55 jahre. Vater Richert litt 4 Jahre lang viel. Am 28. März (?) litt er einen Schlaganfall und 2½ Stunden später rief ihn der Herr heim. Er war ein treues Gotteskind und lobte des Herrn Güte. Er wurde 74 J., 9 M. und 9 Tage alt, und es trauern um ihn: seine Gattin und 7 Kinder: Ben zu Richey, Mont.; Peter, Portland, Oregon; Toby, Bloomfield, Mont.; Frau Henry Schoenwald, Frau John Boese, Frau Merl Long, und Frau Ralph Graber, alle Richey. 3 Brüder: Jacob zu Dallas, Oregon; Ben, Dolton, S. Dak.; und Toby, Bloomfield; 2 Schwestern: Frau Wm. Schmidt, Richey, Mont., und Frau H. B. Unruh, Waldheim, Sask., sowie Großkinder und Urenkel und viele Freunde. Beim Begräbnis am 1. April dienten die Prediger Abe Unruh, Rev. Fiekel, Pred. Albert Schultz und Pred. Hubert E. Widmer. Die Bestattung fand auf dem Bethlehem Friedhof statt. Wir trauern, aber nicht wie die so keine Hoffnung haben.

Andrew B. Richert

Andrew B. Richert was born June 19, 1867, at Green Valley, Poland, South Russia. While a boy of 8 years he came to America with his parents in 1874. They started their journey on November 15 and arrived at Philadelphia, Pa., on January 10, 1875.

From Pennsylvania they went to Great Bend, Kansas but moved to Newton, Kansas that winter. Here they lived for three years. In the fall of 1878 they moved to South Dakota, going by team and wagon. His father took up a homestead in Hutchinson County, So. Dak., and there Andrew Richert spent his boyhood.

At the age of 17 he accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Saviour, was baptised on the confession of his faith, and became a member of the Church there.

Later he moved to Montana, where he was taken into the fellowship of the Bethlehem Mennonite Church, of which he was a charter member. Here he remained a Member until his death.

In September, 1887, he was united in marriage to Eva Deckert, daughter of Peter Deckert. Into this union were born 10 children. Three of these preceded him in death. Fred, who died in infancy, Nettie at the age of 126, and Albert at the age of 28.

In the fall of 1910 Mr. an Mrs. Richert moved with their family to Montana and homesteaded near Richey. They lived here until father's death. They shared nearly 55 years of hardships, joy and sorrow together.

Father suffered a great deal and complained much of his illness for the past four years. On March 28, at 3 o'clock in the afternoon, he suffered a severe stroke. At about 5:30 o'clock the Lord quietly called him to his eternal home.

Father was a true child of God and spent many of his last days praising the Lord for his goodness.

He reached the age of 74 years, 9 months, and 10 days. He leaves to mourn,his beloved wife, and seven children; Ben of Richey, Pete of Portland, Oregon, and Toby of Bloomfield; Mrs. Henry Schoenwald, Mrs. John Boese, Mrs. Merl Lang, and Mrs. Ralph Graber, all of Richey; Three brothers, Jacob Richert of Dallas, Oregon, Ben B. Richert of Dolton, So. Dak., and Toby B. Richert of Bloomfield; two sisters, Mrs. William Schmidt of Richey and Mrs. H. B. Unruh of Waldheim, Sask., Canada; also 32 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren and a host of friends.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, April 1, in the Bethlehem Church. Because of lack of room in the family home at Richey, provision was made to have the services at the William Schmidt home. Before leaving this home, Rev. Abe Unruh read and based his thoughts son John 11: 25-26. there were also two German songs and prayer.

The services in the church were opened by Rev. Fiesal in the German language and by singing of "Does Jesus Care." 1 Chronicles 29: 15 was read. This was followed by a quartet singing "Showers of Blessing." A spiritual sermon was preached by rev. Albert Schultz of Butterfield, Minn. He chose as text Psalms 116: 15, The world is not my home. This followed a solo by John Heinrichs and another spiritual sermon by Rev. Herbert Widmer followed. Rev. Widmer based his thoughts on 2. Cor. 5: 8 and 2. Kings 20: "Set thy house in order."

Interment was made in the Bethlehem Cemetery. We sorrow in hope that our loved one has gone to this eternal reward in heaven.

Pallbearers were Geo. L. Deckert, Peter K. Tiesen, Earhart Senner, Jonathan Schultlz, Dave Schultz, and Ernest Janky.
