LOCAL

— A. A. Reimer of Moundridge died at his home last Monday morning, after an illness of several months. He reached the age of 67 years, 5 months and 27 days. Funeral services were to be held at the Alexanderwohl church, Goessel October 16.

Abraham A. Reimer

Abraham A. Reimer was born in the village of Steinfeld, South Russia on the 14th day of April, 1859. He emigrated to America with his parents i 1877. He was baptized upon the confession of his faith by the Elder Jacob Buller, December 18, 1880 and joined the Alexanderwohl Church where he retained his membership until his death;.

On March 4, 1884, he was united in holy matrimony with Helena Unruh, this union was blessed with 9 children, 4 sons and 5 daughters, 1 son and 21 daughter died an early death. He was called Grandfather by 22 grandchildren, two of which have died. On the 13th day of October this union came to an end by the death of his wife.

August 10th, 1917 he was again married to Miss Helene Schmidt, thereby the stewardship of father over 2 daughters and 16 grand children, one of these chiildren [sic] preceeded [sic] him in death.

His health had been failing for the past nine months of these the last five weeks were spent in bed he being very sick. He was very weak and spoke only when questioned. Many friends visited him during his sickness. As the disease cancer developed more and more he became weaker and weaker until death overtook him. He was patent until the end never complaining of his suffering until death claimed him on the morning of October 11th at the age of 67 years, 5 months and 27 days.

Funeral services were held last Sunday at 11 a.m. at the home and at the Alexanderwohl church at Goessel, Kansas, at 2 p.m. the services were held in the german language, Rev. Wedel of the First Mennonite Church of Christian useing [sic] for his text John 14:1-3, and Rev. P. H. Unruh using 2 Tim. 4:7-8.

His many relatives and friends mourn his departure as he was a good man always standing for the right and doing his best to help others. — Moundridge Journal.
