Katherine Regier of Moundridge Killed in Accident.

A fatal automobile accident which took the life of Katharine Regier, daughter of Mrs. D. J. Regier of Moundridge, occurred early last Thursday morning at the intersection of the Newton and Moundridge road one mile west of the Halsteawd mausoleum. Miss Regier, who was driving her own car, suffered a fracture of the basal part of the skull when the machine which she was driving collided with an eastbound car. She passed away in the Halstead hospital nearly an hour after the accident without regaining consciousness. Two automobile salesmen from Hutchinson who were the occupants of the other car in the collision escaped without serious injury to themselves or extensive damage on their car.

According to reports, Miss Regier, who was employed in a private home in Halstead, had visited with her mother at Moundridge and had contemplated to return to Halstead on the previous evening, but decided to postpone her trip until the morning on which the fatal accident happened. The suddenness of her departure was indeed a great shock to her immediate relatives and many friends.

Miss Regier had a wide circle of acquaintanceship, having taught school in Idaho and in this part of Kansas. She had attended Bethel and Hesston college, completing her course in the latter institution.

Funeral services were held in the Alexanderwohl church Monday afternoon, in the presence of an unusually large crowd of relatives and friends. Rev. H. T. Unruh of Halstead delivered a sermon in the English language, while Rev. P. H. Unruh spoke words of comfort in German. Rev. P. K. Regier of Moundridge read the obituary and also gave a short address. Interment was made in the Alexanderwohl cemetery.
