Cornelius A. Regier.

Cornelius A. Regier was born July 11, 1866, in Rudnerweide, South Russia. In the year 1874, as a boy of eight years, he came to America with his mother, brothers and sisters. Here they established their new home near Moundridge, Kansas. On this parental farm Mr. Regier spent all of the remainder of his life.

On July 29, 1888, he was baptized and received into the Hebron church, whose member he remained until death. On February 21, 1889, he was married to Maria Dyck. This union was blessed with eight children, of which the first two, both girls, died in earliest infancy.

On Dec. 17, 1929, his wife was taken from him by a very unexpected and sudden death. This was for him, as also for the family, a very bitter and sad experience.

In the family circle he was a loving father and in the wider circle of friendship he proved himself a warm friend. He enjoyed fairly good health until about 10 years ago when he began suffering from asthma. However, this last January he became quite sick and was taken to the Goessel hospital where he spent seven weeks. During that time his condition improved to the extent that he returned home with renewed hope. He felt fairly good for a number of weeks until about a week before his death, at which time his ailment became decidedly worse so that he felt he could not expect recovery and prepared for death. He suffered no special pain except the agony of insufficient breath.

On Friday, April 26, at about 5:30 o'clock in the morning, he passed to his reward, having reached the age of 68 years, 10 months and 16 days.

those who mourn his departure and feel the loss are his three daughters: Marie, Anna, and Clara; three sons: Gustav, Ferdinand, and Paul; one daughter-in-0law, Mary, and Grandchild Jerome. Also three brothers and two sisters.

We mourn in the confidence that he now abides in that better home prepared for him by his Lord and Master. — The Children.

LOCAL

. . .

— Friends and relatives from Newton attended the funeral for Cor. C. [sic Cor. A.] Regier of Moundridge, which was held at the Hebron church near Buhler last Sunday afternoon. Mr. Regier was a well known resident of the Moundridge community and his funeral was therefore very largely attended. Rev. P. E. Frantz and Rev. P. P. Wedel gave the sermons in the German and English languages. The event was further saddened by a quite serious accident which occurred near the church during the course of the afternoon. Two automobiles were badly damaged in a collision and some of the occupants dangerously injured.
