● Henry M. Pankratz, Sohn von Peter und Elisabeth Pankratz, geboren den 7. Januar 1841 [sic 1871] in Süd Rußland, kam im Alter von zwölf Jahren mit seinen Eltern nach Alexanderwohl, Kansas. Auf das Bekenntnis seines Glaubens empfing er die heilige Taufe durch Prediger J. S. Hirschler, Hillsboro, Kansas. Hier trat er 1899 in die Ehe mit Louise Nikel, die der Herr mit einem Sohn und einer Tochter segnete. Am 26. März 1922 rief der Herr die liebe Gattin heim. In Sarah Grocier fand er die zweite Lebensgefährtin, die Freude und Leid mit ihm teilte. Im November 1941, wurde Reedley ihre Heimat wo er am 9. Januar 1947 im Alter von 76 Jahren abgerufen wurde.

HENRY M. PANKRATZ

Henry M. Pankratz, son of Peter and Elizabeth Pankratz, was born January 7, 1871, in South Russia. When he was 12 years old he migrated with his parents to America, and they made their home in Marion County, Kansas.

He was baptized upon the confession of his faith by the Rev. John Hirschler and united with the Christian fellowship of the First Mennonite church at Hillsboro, of which he remained a member until the time of his departure. For many years he had a harness shop in Hillsboro and was by profession a harness maker.

In 1899 he was united in marriage with Louise Nickel of Hillsboro. This union was blessed with one son and one daughter, who now mourn the loss of their father. His first wife passed away on march 26, 1922, at the age of 50 years. on December 1, 1922, he was united in marriage with Sarah Crosier, who survives him and now mourns his departure.

In early November of 1941 they moved to California, making their home in Reedley, where he passed away January 9, 1947, in the Reedley hospital two days after his 76th birthday.

His departure is mourned by his bereaved wife, a son, C. H. Pankratz of Chanute; a daughter, Mrs. Irma Ratzlaff of Bakersfield, California; four brothers, John M. of Hillsboro, Jake of Cordell, Oklahoma; Abe of Reedley, California, and Ben of Selma, California; two sisters, Mrs. Anna Kliewer, Cordell, Oklahoma, and Mrs. John W. Schmidt of Reedley; five grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.
