John Neuenschwander

John Neuenschwander was born September 13, 1864 in Runkhofen, Canton, Berne, Switzerland. Receiving infant baptism, he became a member of the State church.

At the age of 28 he was baptized upon confession of his faith joning the Free Evangelical church. Later he was married to Rosetta Aeschleman. Then coming to America they settled on a farm near Elbing, Kansas, on which they lived over 40 years. During this time they attended the Swiss Mennonite church, in which they were blessed, helping to build the kingdom of God. John enjoyed greatly to serve the Lord and Savior in distributing booklets and tracts.

So the years of their life passed by until about seven years ago they retired from the farm, moving to Elbing.

As the Zion church still conducted German services, they attended there, receiving rich blessings during this time, rejoicing in the hope of the glory of God. John said: "What a joy to be redeemed, Bless the Lord O my soul. There is no greater or better possession."

About a year ago, Mr. Neuenschwander's health failed, on account of kidney and heart trouble and August 10 at 1:30 p.m., he passed away, at the age of 73 years, 11 months, and 6 days.

He leaves his wife, ab rother Fred, and his family of Madison, Kansas, three brothers, Ernest, Carl, and Alfred, and one sister, Elizabeth, all of Switzerland, and many other relatives and friends.

The funeral services were held at the Zion church at Elbing on Sunday, august 21.
