Edmund Daniel Miller, Sohn von Daniel und Magdalene Miller ward geboren am 26. August 1877 zu Lemberg, Oesterreich, und starb am 12. März 1946 im Bethel Hospital im Aletr [sic Alter] von 68 J. 6 M. und 14 Tagen. Als er 5 Jahre alt war kam er mit Eltern nach Pratt County, Kansas wo seine Mutter im folgenden Jahr starb. Er machte dann sein Heim bei seiner Schwester Frau W. D. Fast in Kansas bis er 20 Jahre alt war und nach Minnesota ging. Als er 15 Jahre alt war, ward er von Aelt. Wm. Ewert zusammen mit Missionar P. W. Penner und Gattin, jetzt Missionare in Indien, die auch halfen sein Intersse für Mission zu steigern, getauft. Am 20. Dez. 1903 heiratete er Elisabeth Rupp in der Mennonitenkirche zu Westbrook, Minn. und es wurden ihnen 3 Söhne und 2 Töchter geschenkt. Vier seiner Brüder und 3 Schwestern sind ihm im Tode vorangegangen. Als sie nach Newton, Kansas zogen schlossen sie sich der Ersten Mennonitengemeinde an wo er Glied blieb. Es trauern um ihn seine Gattin und folgende Kinder: Arthur E., Los Angeles; Herbert E. Belmont, Kansas; Eldon R. über See; Frau R. J. Hubin, Warwick, N. Dakota; und 2 Brüder: Peter E., Karval, Colo. und Edward W., Little River, Kansas; dazu 5 Enkel nebst vielen Freunden.

— Friends of Edmund D. Miller of 309 Southeast Fifth street, will regret to hear of his death at the Bethel Deaconess Hospital early Tuesday morning, as result of injuries he received on the evening of March 2 when the bicycle he was riding was struck by an automobile in th 1400 block on North Main. He suffered serious head injuries, which also brought about his death. Mr. Miller and his family had lived at Halstead for many years, where he was a well known farmer. Upon his retirement from the farm the family moved to Newton in 1940. His wife and the following children survive: Arthur E. Miller, Los Angeles, Calif.; Rev. H. E. Miller, Belmont; Mrs. Agnes E. Schowalter, Scott City; Hilda F. Miller, Newton, and Eldon R. [sic Eldor] Miller, with the U. S. army in the Philippines. Funeral services will be held at the First Mennonite church at 2:30 o’clock Friday afternoon.

— Funeral services for Edmund D. Miller, 68, of 309 southeast Fifth Street, were held last Friday, March 15, at the First Mennonite church. The services were in charge of Rev. D. J. Unruh, with Rev. J. E. Entz assisting. Mr. Miller died at the Bethel Hospital of injuries received on March 2, when a car drove into him while he was riding a bicycle home from work. Besides his sorrowing wife and five children there remains also a sister, Mrs. Rudolph Hubin of Warwick, N. D. Two of the sons, Arthur E. of Los Angeles and Eldor, in service in the Philippines, were unable to attend the funeral. Burial was delayed more than a day because of the late arrival of the sister, Mrs. Hubin.
