text of obituary:

Mrs. Mary Hinz.

Mrs. Mary Ratzlaff Hinz, daughter of Benjamin an Helena Ratzlaff, was born October 23, 1864, in the village of Fransthal [sic Franztal or Franzthal], South Russia. In 1874 she with her parents immigrated to America, settling in Harvey county, Kansas, near Buhler, where she spent her early youth and received her schooling.

In 1880 she was baptized by Rev. Dietrich Gaeddert and joined the Hoffnungsau Mennonite church.

On December 9, 1886, she was united in marriage with Julius Hinz. To this union were born nine children, two of which preceded her in death.

In 1894 she with her husband and parents, moved to Oklahoma. They settled on a homestead in Washita county near Corn, where she lived until her death.

In the last years of her life, her health began to fail due to heat trouble. On May 20, 1938, she became suddenly very ill, but by the aid of the doctor she recuperated to a certain extent, so that she was able to be up and around during the summer months. However, on November 6 she had another heart attack, followed by pneumonia from which she could not recover. On November 15, 2:00 a.m., she passed to her reward, at the age of 74 years and 22 days.

In her suffering she was very patient, finding her strength in God's precious Word. She committed herself unto the care of her Savior. The song "Safe In The Arms of Jesus" was one of her favorite hymns.

She leaves to mourn her departure from this life, her husband, two daughters and their husbands, five sons and their wives, all of Corn, Oklahoma. One daughter-in-law of Red Wood City, California, one brother, one sister and one adopted sister, 31 grandchildren and many over relatives and friends.

Funeral services were conducted by the Rev. J. H. Epp at the Bergthal church on November 18, 1938.
