Andrew G. Harms

Andrew G. Harms, son of Gerhard and Anna Nickel Harms, was born in Michalin in the Kofshen Government, on March 19, 1850. He was baptized on May 6, 1866, and was taken into the Mennonite church as a member. In 1874 he with his parents and relatives came to America and arrived at Peabody on December 5, 1874. They lived north of Peabody but later moved to Harvey County and settled in Pleasant township, where he has lived the rest of his life.

On August 18, 1894, he was married to Anna Harms. Three children were born to this union. Bertha, the oldest, died some years ago. The deceased has seen some very hard times during his life-time, but his last years were quiet at the home of his children, Dan Harms and wife near Whitewater. He died Tuesday, June 15, 1938, at the age of 88 years, three months and 27 days. he leaves to mourn one son and one daughter; one son-in-law and one daughter-in-law and one sister, Mrs. Anna Unruh in Pawnee Rock, Kansas.
