text of obituary:

Hamm — Our brother John Hamm was born at Marienurg, W. P. (West Prussia) on the 20th day of February, 1863 [sic 1861], the son of Peter and Emilie Helene Siemens Hamm. In Marienburg he spent his youth and received his education. On religious ground he emigrated to America with his brother William in May, 1879, locating at Beatrice, Nebraska. He was baptized Feb. 20, 1881 by the Elder Gerhard Penner and remained a faithful member of the Mennonite church to his end.

He made his home with Brother William, working on the farm as long as his strength permitted. During his later years his hearing failed rapidly, so that he could not follow a sermon, which was a great sacrifice for him.

For some time he was afflicted with a disease of the stomach, rapidly losing strength, and he passed away on February 17, 1925 at the Mennonite hospital, where he received the very best care from both physician and nurses.

He was reconciled to his departure in full assurance that he would be with his lord Whom he loved.

He is survived by three sisters, two nephews and three nieces who mourn his departure.

Miss Agathe Hamm,

Mrs. William Penner,

Mrs. S. K. Mosiman.
