Franz M. Goossen. Sohn von Franz H. Goossens wurde am 17. Dezember 1876 in Landskrone, Süd-Rußland, geboren.

Und sinkt hinab ins Grab;
All’ Erdennot und Jammer,
Nahm ihm der Herr nun ab.
Leb wohl, in tausend Freuden,
Du lieber Vater du!
Und wenn auch wir einst scheiden,
Und ziehn der Heimat zu,
Dann wollen wir uns sehen,
Dann sind wir nicht mehr krank,
Wenn wir bei Jesu stehen,
Schallt ew’ger Lobgesang.

Beim Begräbnis dienten die Prediger P. H. Unruh, Text, Jakobus 1: 12 und D. C. Wedel, Text, Römer 6: 23.

Mennonite Weekly Review obituary: 1943 May 27 p. 4

text of obituary:

Franz M. Goossen

Our beloved husband and father was born to Mr. and Mrs. Franz H. Goossen, December 17, 1876, in Landskrone, South Russia. At the age of six months he left Russia with his parents and came to North America where they made their home in Marion county, Kansas.

At the age of nineteen he found himself in need of the Saviour to bear his sins, and was baptized upon the confession of his faith by Rev. Jacob Buller on May 24, 1896, and received as a member into the Alexanderwohl Mennonite church of which he has remained a faithful member until his death.

On April 25, 1900, he joined hands with Susanna Duerksen, in Holy Matrimony. They were blessed with ten sons and two adopted daughters, of whom one son, William, preceded him in death. They were privileged to live together in holy matrimony for 43 years and 19 days.

He has been under the doctor's care since last September. He became severely ill march 25, and finding it impossible to give him proper care at home the family took him to the Bethesda Hospital on April 25, where he was under good care until his death. The cause of his illness and death was heart trouble.

On Saturday morning, May 15 at 7:50 and at the age of 66 years, four months, and 28 days, God called him to be at rest with Him.

He leaves to mourn his beloved wife, nine sons, nine daughters-in-law, two adopted daughters, two sons-in-law, 29 grandchildren, seven sisters, ten brothers-in-law and innumerable relatives and friends. But we do not mourn as those without hope.

Our father was also a great guide and aid in the spiritual as well as in financial welfare of our children.

Gods time is never wrong,
Never too fast nor too slow;
The planets move to its steady pace
As the centuries come and go.

Let us set our clocks by God's. And order our lives by His ways,
And nothing can come and nothing can go
Too soon and too late in our day.

— The Family.
