Anna Augusta Goering was born April 28, 1891, at the parental home of Joseph A. and Susan (Voran) Goering one mile south of Moundridge, Kansas. At seven years of age she moved with her parents to a farm three miles north of Hesston where she spent practically her whole life. She attended the public schools of that community after which she took her place in the home. She was vitally interested in the success of the home. Uncomplainingly she assumed the daily duties and performed them thoroughly and willingly. She would have chosen to sojourn on earth a little while longer because of her intense devotion to the home.
On July 26, 1908, she was baptized on the confession of her faith by Rev. John C. Goering and became a member of the First Mennonite Church of Christian at Moundridge, Kansas, and here she remained a loyal member until death.
Several months ago she began failing somewhat in health; but rather suddenly irreparable reverses overtook her. She became bedfast on February 1. Though suffering intensely the last few days she bore it bravely and seemed to realize fully that the final summons was at hand. She departed this life at eleven o'clock Monday evening, February 11, 1935, at the age of 43 years, 9 months and 13 days.
She leaves to mourn her early departure her parents, Joseph A. and Susan Goering, her brothers and sisters, Paul C., Menno W. and Selma O., of the home, Eric D. and Mrs. C. W. Juhnke of Moundridge; Philip A. of St. John, Kansas, and Mrs. Glen Deem of Tonkawa, Okla., also a large circle of distant near relatives and friends.
She is gone but not forgotten;
We will miss her in the home.
But while here on earth we roam,
We will set our faces heavenward
Till we hear His blessed, "Come."
Funeral services were conducted on February 14 in charge of Rev. P. P. Wedel and assisted by Rev. P. A. Wedel.
