Katherine Gehring.

After a siege of sickness at the home of her son Ewalt Schrag at Monroe, Wash., at the age of 70 years and 10 months, the deceased who had endured herself to every one who knew her, has gone to her reward.

Mother Gehring was born in Russia March 7, 1861, came to America in her fourteenth year, living near Marion, S. Dakota, until 1900 when the family made their home in Adams Co., Wash. She was married to Johannes Schrag, with whom she lived and shared weal in Monroe with her now bereaved husband at 50 years. Three years ago she married again and made her home in Monroe with her now bereaved husband Peter Gehring. She leaves five daughters: Elizabeth and Katherine Gehring of Odessa, Wash., Caroline Schrag of La Cross, Wash., Anna Riese and Fanny Kaufmann of Marion, S. Dakota; four sons, Dr. Henry Schrag of Soap Lake; Ewalt and Andrew Schrag of Monroe; and Joseph Schrag of Odessa, Wash., also 46 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends to mourn her departure.

Funeral services were held at the Mennonite church with Rev. Gehring and Baumgartner officiating. Her unassuming godly life was a benediction to all who knew her. The remains were buried at the family lot in the cemetery at Monroe, Washington.
