KANSAS
Mrs. J. J. Friesen

My beloved wife and our dear mother, Anna Friesen, nee Funk, was born October 13, 1857, in the village Brangnau, South Russia. As a child of five years, she moved with her parents to Crimea and from there they came to America in 1873, and settled at Brudertal, near Hillsboro, Kansas. She was then 16 years of age.

Upon the confession of her faith she was baptized in 1876 by the Rev. Wm. Ewert and received into the Brudet5thal Church

On December 2, 1879, she united in Holy Wedlock with Father Friesen and with us has shared joys and sorrow for 51 years, 2 months and 8 days.

In 1904, Father and Mother had the pleasure of celebrating their 25th wedding anniversary.

In February, 1908, the family united with the Mennonite Church of Hillsboro.

It was the privilege of the family to be reunited on the occasion of the 50th wedding anniversary on December 2, 1922. l The greetings and good wishes received at that time from many friends and relatives, especially strengthened mother's faith for the last year of her life. Since then she often pondered upon thoughts of her Heavenly Home where she longed to go soon.

She has given us a spiritual background and example which the experiences of this life cannot take from us.

She leaves to mourn her sudden departure her loving husband, six sons, five daughters, twenty grand children, three sisters, two brothers — and a host of relatives and friends.
