Mrs. Gerhard Franzen

My beloved wife, Lydia Franzen, nee Dalke, was born October 11, 1893. She was baptized June 4, 1911, by Pastor P.H. Richert, and was a member of the Tabor Church till the organization of the Goessel Mennonite Church, in which church we have been members ever since. We were married August 19, 1917. Our matrimonial bliss lasted some 7 ½ years. Four children were born to us, two sons and two daughters, the youngest son being eight months of age.

She was indeed a faithful help mate to me till her sudden illness April 2. Besides other complications it was pneumonia to which she finally succumbed. Her sickness lasted six days and a half. The last two days were very severe. She departed April the eighth with an unshaken faith in Christ her Saviour.

We take it not as a mere incident but as a source of true comfort that it is an Easter-day on which we placed her to her final rest. It is the day on which the resurrection hope is proclaimed throughout the whole world. This hope was her sole stay. Even several days before her departure she uttered the prediction that this would be a glorious Easter for her. It has indeed come true. She is now celebrating it with the Saints in glory. Even if our hearts are bleeding and our tears are flowing we cannot wish for her anything else but the bliss of the great beyond.

She attained an age of 31 years, five months, and twenty-eight days. Besides me, her bereaved husband, and her children, also her parents, three brothers, and three sisters mourn over her early departure.

Our most heartfelt thanks are extended to all relatives, neighbors and friends for their kindness and sympathy shown us in the departure of our beloved wife and mother, Mrs. Gerhard Franzen. We also want to thank all who showed their sympathy and love by the beautiful flowers.
