Mrs. Eva Ewert

Eva Ewert, nee Foth, was born in Russia, November 9, 1850. She was baptized and received into the Church May 6, 1866. Some twenty years ago she joined the Mission Church of Elbing, Kansas.

On the 5th of May 1871, she was united in marriage to Gerhard Ewert. In December, 1874, the family came to this country and settled in the Spring Township. On this place the couple lived till now. Of all the married couples that emigrated from Russia and settled in this community, this one was the last to be separated by death.

Two children were born in the family and both are living. The departed has always been rather strong and very active. Of late years though she began to fail. But the old couple managed to get along with but very little help from outside. She died Wednesday morning, July 13, her age being 76 years, 8 months and 4 days.

She leaves to mourn her departure her aged husband (87), one son, John G. of near Zimmerdale; one daughter, Anna, Mrs. P. H. Unruh of near Goessel; and one sister in South Dakota.

Funeral services were held at the Grace Hill Church and interment made in the Grace Hill cemetery. — Whitewater Independent.
