Mrs. D. G. Dyck

It has pleased the Lord to take out of much affliction our beloved sister in Christ, Mrs. Marie Claassen Dyck of Pasadena, Calif. She was born Feb. 4, 1891, to her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Rudolf Claassen, residing then near newton, Kansas. In this her childhood home she was privileged to grown up under the loving care of her godly parents, to know, love and accept her Saviour, Jesus Christ. At the age of sixteen she publicly accepted her Lord and was baptized in the First Mennonite Church of Newton, Kansas, where she was joined in membership with the church.

On June 20, 1912 she united in marriage with her husband D. G. Dyck. Soon after this event they made their home in Pasadena, Calif. Into their happy home was born their only son, Paul, who here with his father mournes [sic] the early departure of their beloved mother and wife. Shortly following this the home of our friends came under the shadow of sickness which befell the mother. For nearly fourteen years Mrs. Dyck has been a quiet and patient sufferer. The last eight years she endured her affliction as a helpless invalid. The degree of her suffering and privations was loyally shared by her devoted husband, son and relatives.

In the shadows of such experiences the Lord Jesus became very precious to her. He illumined the gloom with the comforting reality of his presence. So effective became his ministry of fellowship in their suffering that she could pass through the dark valley without complaint. As frequent callers in their home during these years we were often refreshed by a note of praise, coming from a deep experience of the Lord's compassionate care.

A very real ministry of intercessory prayer was here for a large circle of relatives, friends and servants in the Lord's vineyard. The effectiveness and blessedness thereof has been our experience. Her memory shall be blessed to all who knew her in this sphere of Christian service.

As the degree of her suffering increased, her desire to be released and taken home to her Lord grew. The Lord heard her cry and the prayers of her loved ones, leading her gently home to glory May 4, at 8:45 P. M. at an age of 38 years.

She leaves to mourn her departure her beloved husband and son, one sister and four brothers, many relatives and friends.
