Barbara Dirks

Barbara Dirks, nee Senner, of Monroe, Wash., was born in Russia on Aug. 20, 1858. She came to America in 1874. First settled in Ohio and later in Marion County, S. Dakota.

On Dec. 18, 1882, she was married to the now bereaved Peter Dirks. In 1902 they moved to the Great Bend country in eastern Washington. In 1914 they moved to Monroe, where they have lived ever since.

The deceased has accepted the Lord as her Savior in the days of her youth and remained true to her faith and active in His service wherever she had an opportunity. She belonged to the little group which helped to organize the Monroe church. She has lived to the age of 79 years, less one month. She is survived by her aged husband, Peter Dirks, 6 children, 13 grandchildren, one brother and one sister.

Her funeral was held July 22 from the Mennonite church and was buried in the family lot in the Memorial Park cemetery.

The Rev. M. M. Lehman and S. S. Baumgartner spoke words of comfort.
