. . .

— Death came to Mrs. Elizabeth (Neufelt [sic Neufeld]) Classen [sic Claassen], wife of P. M. Classen [sic Claassen] of Newton last Thursday forenoon, March 5, after she had suffered for some months from a heart ailment and complications. Born near Elbing, Germany, in 1860 she came to America in her youth, the Newton community being her early home. After her marriage to P. M. Classen [sic Claassen] in 1897, Alta Mills became her home for a few years, but the family moved to Newton later and she resided here for the remainder of her life. A large concourse of sympathetic relatives were present at the funeral services which were held at the First Mennonite church on Monday afternoon. The services were conducted by Rev. A. Warkentin and Rev. J. E. Entz, pastors of the church. The Rev. Abr. Ratzlaff of Buhler conducted a brief service at the home. Mrs. Claassen is survived by her husband, one son, two daughters and one sister.
