Fred Baumann, Sohn von Peter und Elizabeth (Lehman) Baumann, wurde geboren am 5. März 1858 zu Linden in der Schweiz. Er starb im Halstead Hospital am 30. November 1943, 4 Tage nach dem Tode seiner Gattin. Er brachte sein Alter auf 85 J. 8 M. und 25 Tagen. Er wie seine Gattin, starb an Lungenentzündung. Am 26. Dezember 1883 heiratete er Maria Stucky von Newton, Kansas. Aus dieser Ehe wurden geboren 6 Söhne und 1 Tochter, alle waren bei der Beerdigung anwesend. 16 Enkel, 4 Großenkel, eine Anzahl Neffen und Nichten viele Freunde und Nachbarn betrauerten seinen Tod. Ihre Kinder sind John F, Altus, Okla.; Ernst W., Sioux City, Iowa; Fred L., Valley Center, Kans.; Jacob H. Sedwick [sic Sedgwick]; Alfred W. Burrton; Bernhard H., Halstead; Lizzie Grinsmann Mount Hope, Kans. Pred. D. C. Wedel leitete die Begräbnisfeier, ein Quartet sang und die 6 Söhne waren Leichenträger. Die Leiche wurde im Halstead Mausoleum beigesetzt.

AGED MR. AND MRS. BAUMANN OF HALSTEAD DIED LESS THAN A WEEK APART

Halstead, Kans. — The aged Mr. and Mrs. Fred Baumann who had lived here in retirement since about 20 years ago, died recently, their deaths occurring less than one week apart. Mrs. Baumann, 83, died Friday morning, Nov. 26, while Mr. Baumann, 85, died Tuesday morning, Nov. 30.

Mr. and Mrs. Bauman [sic Baumann] were well known farmers of this community, having lived on their farm southwest of Halstead since 1885 until they moved to town where they purchased a home on South Chisholm street.

Funeral services were held at the local Mennonite church, conducted by Rev. D. C. Wedel, pastor of the church.
