Mrs. Adison Shriver

Clara Ellen Ellis was born in Bentonsport, Iowa, on October 15, 1861 and later moved to Centerville, Iowa. She was united in marriage to Addison Shriver on August 27, 1884. Two children were born to them.

In November, 1905, the family, accompanied by a niece, Grace Elis, moved to Newton where she resided until her death June 12, 1943. She was 81 years, 7 months, and 27 days old.

She was a member of the First Christian church, also the Women's Missionary Society and the Ladies Aid.

Her son R. O. Shriver of St. Joseph, Missouri, and daughter Mrs. W. F. Decker of Newton, survive. She had three grand children and three great grand children.

Funeral services were held at the First Christian church Monday, June 14 at 2:30 p. m., with Rev. Logan Martin officiating. Mrs. Archie Grimm and Mrs. W. D. Hawley sang "Jesus Savior, Pilot Me" and "Abide With Me." Mrs. Norman Ralph accompanied them at the organ.

Pallbearers were: J. Sidney Nye, Carl Scott, Leo Brown, John Stamm, I. C. Onwiler, and W. H. LaGree. Interment was made in Greenwood cemetery by the side of her husband who passed away in 1022. Duff & Son in charge.
