Jake A. Schmidt

Lifetime area resident Jake A. Schmidt, 69, of 909 W. 5th, a farmer and custom combiner, died Friday (March 25, 1988) at NMC-Axtell.

Services will be at 10 a. m. Tuesday at Tabor Mennonite Church with the Rev. Ray Hurst officiating. Burial will be in Tabor Cemetery.

Mr. Schmidt was born April 28, 1918, in Goessel to Cornelius and Marie Friesen Schmidt. He married Hazel McCoy May 3, 1941. She died March 1, 1985.

He was a member of Tabor Mennonite Church.

Survivors include three sons, Robert Ray of Kansas City, Lowell Dean of Hutchinson and Darrin Scott of Newton; two daughters, Barbara Joan Bergen of Omaha, Neb.; and Patricia Jean Krehbiel of Moundridge; a brother, Ferd Schmidt of Goessel; four sisters, Olga Pankratz, Mary Golden and Esther Klassen, all of Goessel, and Helen Janzen of Newton; 11 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Friends may call tonight, from 1 to 9 p. m. Sunday and Monday at Petersen's Funeral Home. The family suggests memorials to Halstead Hospital.
