Harry Sawatzky

BILLINGS, Mont. — Harry Sawatzky, 86, retired teacher and farmer, died Tuesday (Oct. 27, 1998) at his home in Billings.

He was born Nov. 6, 1911, in Herbert, Saskatchewan, Canada, to Jacob F. and Cornelia (Klassen) Sawatzky. He married Delphia Schoenwald May 15, 1938. She survives.

He had his formal education in Canada and also two years of college at Freeman Junior College in Freeman, S. D.

Other survivors include: one son, Ronald Sawatzky of Elkhart, Ind.; three daughters, Janice Soft and Norma Eddy, both of Billings, and Charlene Buettner of Lincoln, Neb.; four brothers, Victor Sawatzky and Benjamin Sawatzky, both of North Newton, Reynold Sawatzky of Goshen, Ind., and Gordon Sawatzky of Greeley, Colo.; two sisters, Annie Deckert of North Newton and Kathrine Schultz of Glendive, Mont.; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and one sister.

Funeral services will be at 10 a. m. Saturday at Alliance Church in Billings, Mont. A second service and burial will be at 1 p. m. Monday at Bethlehem Mennonite Church and Cemetery in Bloomfield, Mont.
