Mt. Lake Business Man Crushed By Elevator

QUENTIN C. LEHMAN, 54, WAS ACTIVE IN CHURCH AND COMMUNITY

Mountain Lake, Minn. — This community was saddened by the sudden accidental death of Quinten [sic Quentin] C. Lehman, 54, community leader and manager of the Basinger Hotel here the past 25 years who was instantly killed when crushed under the elevator at the hotel on July 16.

Funeral services were held Sunday, July 20, at the Bethel Mennonite Church and were widely attended. Rev. Willard Wiebe officiated.

Mr. Lehman apparently stopped the elevator at the first floor of the hotel and went into the basement pit to make some adjustments in the electrical connections. His body was found several hours later under the two-ton elevator, which had descended into the pit. His brother-in-law, Dr. Harvey R. Basinger, was summoned and said death was apparently instantaneous due to a fractured skill [sic].

A native of Pandora, Ohio, Mr. Lehman was married there to Vera Basinger on July 25, 1926. They came to Mt. Lake in 1931. He was active in the Bethel church and in a number of community organizations.
