MOUNDRIDGE — Jacob J. Goering, 96, of Moundridge, a retired farmer, died Wednesday (Feb. 13, 1991) at Mercy Hospital.
Graveside services will be 9:45 a. m. Saturday at Eden Mennonite Church Cemetery, rural Moundridge, followed by a memorial service at 10:30 a. m. Saturday at the church.
He was born Nov. 21, 1896, in Moundridge, the son of Jacob J. and Anna (Schrag) Goering. He married Lydia Zerger Sept. 7, 1919, in Moundridge. She died Aug. 8, 1977. He was a member of the church.
Survivors include four sons, Victor of Moundridge, Gilbert of Poughkeepsie, N. Y., Orville of Santa Clara, Calif., and Stanley of Placentia, Calif.; three daughters, Melva Wiebe of Logan, Utah, Violet Wildeboor of Wichita and Annabelle Schmucker of Alliance, Ohio; 21 grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p. m. Friday at Harder-Kaufman Funeral Home, Moundridge. Memorials are suggested to the Bethel College Music Department or the Eden Church Music Department.

Jacob J. Goering
MOUNDRIDGE — Jacob J. Goering, youngest child of Jacob J. and Anna Schrag Goering was born November 21, 1896, on a farm northwest of Moundridge, KS. He passed away February 13, 1991, at the age of 94 years. He attended Pioneer School, Moundridge High School and Bethel College Academy, from which he graduated in 1916. During two years spent at Bethel College, he received musical training and participated in music groups. He shared his musical talents as long as he was able, singing in and directing musical groups, as well as listening to music.
He became a member of the Hoffnungsfeld-Eden Mennonite Church, and at various times was a Sunday school teacher and a deacon, as well as participating in church music.
On September 7, 1919, he married Lydia Zerger. After sharing life together for nearly 58 years, Lydia passed awa on August 8, 1977. They lived on a farm just north of the Eden Mennonite Church until they took up residence in the Memorial home in the late 1960s. He spent nearly 23 years at Memorial Home.
Survivors include his seven children and spouses: Victor and wife Elizabeth, Moundridge; Melva Wiebe, Logan, UT; Violet and husband Herbert Wildeboor, Wichita; Gilbert and wife Peggy, Poughkeepsie, NY; Orville, Santa Clara, CA: AnnaBelle and husband Arden Schmucker, Alliance, OH; Stanley and wife Ann, Placentia, CA; 21 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service was conducted at Eden Mennonite Church, 10:30 a. m., Saturday, February 16, 1991. Interment was in the church cemetery.
Memorials may be given to Bethel College music department or the Eden Church music department.
