Peter A. Flickner was born in Edwardsdorf Wholinein [sic], Russia, November 3, 1853, where he lived with his parents during his childhood. With his parents Mr. Andrew and Mrs. Anna Flickner he later moved to the locality of Kottusufka [sic], where he was baptized upon his confession of faith and became a member of the Mennonite Church April 9, 1867.

In 1874 with the Immigration of Mennonites from Russia to American also came this family. He came with his parents as an early pioneer only as a lad of 20 years to share the trials and hardships of pioneer life. He remained in the eastern part of the United States, in Illinois for a brief time to labor for his livelihood but soon came to Kansas and settled in the heart of the state in McPherson County in the vicinity of Moundridge.

Here he found his life mate Mrs. Fannie Maria Schrag with whom he shared life's hardships and joys until the end. He was married May 17, 1876. Only two years ago he was privileged to celebrate his Golden Wedding Festivity. This rare privilege is given to but few in this life.

He was a very diligent worker in the church and served his Lord in many capacities. He was a member of the Eden Church. He loved his Redeemer and was delighted to serve Him with his Godgiven [sic] talents in every way he could.

Although being healthy in body for many years until he reached the ripe old age yet the final summons came after a brief suffering of about 15 days. He was taken to the Halstead Hospital where everything was done to secure relief of pain and suffering, for recovery.

However his end came September 10, 1928 at the age of 75 years 10 months and 8 days.

His wife, 2 sons, 4 daughters, 1 step-daughter, many grandchildren and great grandchildren, 1 brother, a host of friends and acquaintances remain as the bereaved to mour the departure of this father and friend.

Funeral Services were held at the Eden Mennonite Church on September 14, 1928.

Peter A. Flickner
