Text of obituary:

Andreas—Wilhelm Andreas was born in Nogathau, West Prussia, on the 30th of March, 1847. He attended the public school of this village, and after finishing his elementary education, received private tutoring by Prof. Kutsch. He was baptized on his confession of faith on May 26, 1864 by his father, who was the Elder of the Elbing-Ellerwald congregation, of which he thus became a member.

In 1876 he came to this country, with his parents. They made their temporary home at Mt. Pleasant, Ia., while looking around for a permanent location. Here his father died. In 1877 he, with his mother, came to Beatrice, Nebraska, where they established their home on a farm adjoining the city, where he has lived until his death. On the 9th of January, 1879 he was united in marriage to Catherine Claassen, who has been his faithful helpmeet in things material as well as spiritual. Joy and sorrow they have shared in mutual sympathy and helpfulness. The Lord blessed their labor and prospered them. Of their worldly goods they made good use, as the treasures of our Mission Boards and Relief Commission can give testimony.

Three years ago he became afflicted with heart trouble, which, although he partly recuperated from the same, became the cause of his death. He passed to his heavenly reward on the 8th of June at four o'clock in the afternoon, at the age of 76 years, 2 months and 9 days. He leaves his devoted wife, two sons, two daughters, one son-in-law (Rev. Albert Claassen of our Los Angeles City Mission), one daughter-in-law, five grandchildren, and many relatives and friends. The messages of comfort were given by the brethren, H. D. Penner, in English and J. K. Penner, in German.
