Mrs. William P. Wiens

Mrs. William P. Wiens was born near Henderson, Nebraska, December 12, 1892, the oldest daughter of Cornelius C. and Maria (Friesen) Dick. She attended the public schools at Henderson and was graduated from Bethel Academy in 1912. After teaching two years at Henderson, her family moved to Newton, in 1914. The next year and several succeeding summers, she again attended Bethel College. She taught in Kansas for six years. Active in the Parent-Teacher association of the McKinley school where she served as secretary the past year, she never lost her interest in school work.

On Pentecost in 1915, she accepted Christ as her personal Saviour and upon confession of her faith united with the First Mennonite Church where she was a faithful and active member until her death.

She was united in marriage to William P. Wiens on June 9, 1921, at the home of her parents, and to this union was born three children, William Kenneth, Norman Dick, and Mary Margaret.

She passed away at 7 o'clock the morning of June 7, 1934, making her 41 years, 5 months and 25 days. In addition to her husband and children to mourn her departure, she leaves her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Cornelius Dick, of 419 East First and the following brothers and sisters. Mrs. P. G. Braun of Hamilton, Kansas, Herbert A. Dick, William O. Dick, and Mrs. Walter J. Berrerforden of this city, Mrs. Willard Peters of Kenbro, Kansas, and Mrs. Waldo Schmidt of Udall, Kansas, besides other relatives and a host of friends.
