Memorial services for J. Willard Linscheid, 68, of North Newton, were held March 23 at Bethel College Mennonite Church, North Newton, with Darrell Fast officiating. The burial was private. He died March 20 at his home. He taught 39 years at Goessel High School and was a long-time Goessel resident, moving to Newton in 1986. Survivors include his wife, Ruth C. (Duerksen); three sons, David A. of Newton, John M. Linscheid of Philadelphia and Steven K. of Washington, D. C.; two sisters, Katherine Weaver of Elgin, Ill., and Marjorie Isaak of Sellersville, Pa.; and two grandchildren.

J. Willard Linscheid

NORTH NEWTON — J. Willard Linscheid, 68, of North Newton, died Friday (March 20, 1992) at his home.

He was born July 24, 1923, in Newton to John E. and Anna E. Claassen Linscheid. He was a longtime Goessel resident, moving to Newton in 1986. He was a retired high school teacher, teaching for 39 years at Goessel High School.

He married ruth C. Duerksen July 24, 1951, in Goessel. She survives.

He was a member of the Bethel College Mennonite Church, North Newton.

Other survivors include three sons, David A. of Newton, John M. of Philadelphia and Steven K. of Washington, D.C.; two sisters, Katherine Weaver of Elgin, Ill., and Marjorie Isaak of Sellersville, Pa.; and two grandchildren.

Memorial services will be 7 p.m. at Bethel College Mennonite Church, North Newton, with the Rev. Darrell Fast presiding.

Friends may call until 9 p.m. today and from 1 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Petersen's Funeral Home, Newton. The family suggests memorials to the Brethren/Mennonite Council for Lesbian and Gay Concerns or to Bethel College, North Newton, in care of the funeral home.
