Henry Martin

Henry Martin, an honored citizen of the community, passed away Monday afternoon at 2:35 at Bethel hospital, where he had been taken last Friday morning suffering from influenza-pneumonia. He reached his 77th birthday Dec. 19, last.

Mr. Martin came here from McPherson county in 1898, and the family has ever since resided on the suburban home farm just east of the Bethel College campus. Mr. Martin was a quiet man who held the respect of all who knew him.

He leaves his widow and four children, who are Mrs. Jacob P. Boehr, of the Bethel campus, Miss Alice Martin of the home who is teaching in the Salina city schools, Mrs. Cora Mackay, Great Falls, Mont., Ellison D. of Salina. All except Mrs. Mackay are here.

Funeral services were conducted at the Duff & Son funeral parlors Wednesday afternoon at 2:30, and interment was made in Greenwood cemetery.

Obituary—Henry Martin

Henry Martin, son of David and Catherine (Leib) Martin, was born at Clarence Center, N. Y., Dec. 19, 1851. He was one of six children and grew to manhood on the farm. He attended the village school and later the Mennonite seminary at Wadsworth, O., after which he engaged in teaching for several years. he was married to Susannah Krehbiel of Clarence Center, Dec. 11, 1879. To this union were born five children, three daughters and two sons. One son, Herman, died at the age of fourteen, in the year 1897.
