Henry Wiens, was barn in Kleefeld, southern Russia, on October 3, 1911. The Wiens family left Russia for Canada in 1926 and settled in Manitoba. It was here he accepted Christ as his Saviour at the age of 16. Later, together with his family, he moved to Coaldale, Alberta, where he was baptized and became a member of the Mennonite Brethren Church. He enjoyed participating in church activities, especially chair groups . His Bible school training was shortened due to his father's death.
