&#8212; Two old settlers of the Halstead community were recently laid to their final rest, both funerals being attended by friends and former acquaintances from Newton. Funeral services for the late Katherine Schowalter, 79, were held there on Monday, Nov. 29, while those for Miss Dora A. Krehbiel, 64, were held there on Nov. 24. Miss Krehbiel passed away at Liberty, Mo., where she had made her home in recent years. Both services were conducted by Rev. D. C. Wedel, pastor at Halstead.

— Two old settlers of the Halstead community were recently laid to their final rest, both funerals being attended by friends and former acquaintances from Newton. Funeral services for the late Katherine Schowalter, 79, were held there on Monday, Nov. 29, while those for Miss Dora A. Krehbiel, 64, were held there on Nov. 24. Miss Krehbiel passed away at Liberty, Mo., where she had made her home in recent years. Both services were conducted by Rev. D. C. Wedel, pastor at Halstead.
