&#8212; Mrs. Jacob Ries, one of the pioneers of the Freeman community in South Dakota, passed away at the home of her children on September 23. Her husband passed away on June 7, 1932, after they had lived together in marriage for nearly 50 years. Funeral services held at the Salem-Zion church were conducted by Rev. A. P. Waltner and Rev. P. M. Schroeder.
