Jacob C. Jantz, son of Cornelius and maria Jantz, was born near Marion Junction, S. Dak., Jan. 1, 1886. In the year of 1903 he came with his parents and brothers to the state of Washington, locating on a farm northwest of Ruff. In the year of 1905 he was baptized upon his confession of faith in the Lord Jesus Christ by the Elder Jacob R. Schrag and received as a member of the church at Menno.

In the year of 1903 he came with his parents and brothers to the state of Washington, locating on a farm northwest of Ruff. In the year of 1905 he was baptized upon his confession of faith in the Lord Jesus Christ by the Elder Jacob R. Schrag and received as a member of the church at Menno. When the church in Ruff was organized in Dec. 29, 1910, he became one of its charter members. On January 19, 1908, he was united in marriage to Rose Miller. The Lord blessed this union with 5 children, 4 sons and 1 daughter. They lived on a farm north of Ruff until Dec. 1, 1932, when the family moved to the vicinity of Edwall where they lived since.

Jacob was a lover of the home. He had this distinct characteristic that when other boys of his age would be out and away much, he loved to be at home. His parents bear him this record that he was always obedient and dependable. These outstanding points of life he carried with him till later years. Neighbors around him testify of him a s a dependable man. He was a faithful member of the church. The Bible was a steady companion. John6 was his favorite chapter and verse35 was often quoted by him.
