Burial was in Greenwood Cemetery, Newton. She had worked in the dietary departments of Bethel Deaconess Hospital and Bethel Home, Newton. A native of rural Fairview, Okla., she had lived in Hesston since 1984, moving from Newton. Survivors include two sons, Detrick of Newton and Paul of Elk Falls; six daughters, Margaret Miller of Durham, Marie Matz of Wichita, Malinda Guhr and Eva Lena Suderman, both of Newton, Lillian Gunnels of Goddard and Obera Janzen of Hesston; 33 grandchildren and 42 great-grandchildren. Her husband, Joseph A., died in 1949.
