Pioneer Settler At Whitewater Dies

Harper, Kan. — John Zuercher, 80, a resident of this community since 1923 and a pioneer settler at Whitewater, died at Joslyn Hospital on May 5.

The body was sent to Whitewater, where funeral services were conducted at the Swiss Mennonite Church on May 7, Rev. Ted Roth and Rev. Dan U. Dalke officiating..

A native of Switzerland, Mr. Zuercher came to the United States in 1883 with his parents, the Peter Zuerchers, and they settled at Whitewater, Kan. He was married to Martha Ingold at Whitewater, and the family moved to a farm near Harper in 1923.

Surviving are the widow, one son, one daughter, three brothers and two sisters.
