MRS. MARY ZOOK

Mary, second eldest daughter of the late Benjamin and Phebe [sic Phoebe](Sauffer [sic Stauffer]) Lauber, was born March 12, 1898, near Milford, Nebraska. She passed away at the Tofield, Alberta hospital December 19, 1950, at the age of 52 years, 9 months and 7 days. Death resulted from a heart condition.

At the age of 12 years she moved with her parents to Tofield, Alberta where she had resided since. In her youth she accepted Christ as her Saviour and united with the Salem Mennonite church to which she was faithful until death.

On November 17, 1921, she was united in marriage to John R. Zook. Surviving are her husband and five children, Ida Marie, Mrs. Charles Smith of Los Angeles, Calif., Kenneth Charles and wife Elsie, Phoebe Elizabeth, Matilta [sic Matilda] Jane, John Raymond; one grand-daughter. Valeria Ann; her mother; four sisters and four brothers; also a large number of relatives and friends. One son, Benjamin Grant, preceded her in death as well as her father, four brothers and two sisters.

She was a loving companion and faithful mother to her family. She often expressed the sweet fellowship she enjoyed with her Lord. It was her desire to go or stay at the Lord's direction. She with the Apostle Paul could say. “For me to live is Christ but to die is gain.'’ This attitude was an inspiration to her family and the many friends who visited her.

Funeral services were held Dec. 21 at the Salem church, in charge of J. B. Staffer [sic Stauffer] and Ezra Stauffer. Text II Timothy 4:7.8. Interment was made in the adjoining cemetery.
