VELMA OLIVE ZIMMERLY

Velma Olive (Steiner) Zimmerly, daughter of Peter R. and Anna (Burkholder) Steiner, was born July 28, 1901 near Orrville, Ohio. She died on Jan. 30, 1975 at the age of 73 years at the BranField Nursing Center in Orrville after an extended illness.

She is survived by her husband, Aldine J. Zimmerly, to whom she was married May 1, 1932; four children, Glenn Zimmerly of Orville, Lois, Mrs. Philip Copeland of Elyria, Ohio, Eileen, Mrs. Adolf Loeffler of Sherwood Park, Alberta, and Esther L. of Orrville, four grandchildren, and two sisters, Mrs. Joe Basinger of Dalton, Ohio and Eva, Mrs. David Kornhaus of Orrville. She was preceded in death by a brother, Dayton Steiner, three half-sisters, Edna Steiner, Sylvia Stauffer and Dilia Steiner, and two half brothers, Earl and Clarence Steiner.

She taught school at Pokeberry, Unin College and Number One Greene Township in Wayne County, and at schools in Mahoning and Holmes counties. She had been an active member of the Crown Hill Mennonite Church, Rittman, Ohio, where she taught Sunday school classes and participated in the WNSC faithfully for many years.

The funeral was held at the Crown Hill Church on Feb. 2 with Rev. Wilmer Hartman and Rev. Noah HIlty officiating interment was in the Crown Hill Cemetery.
