SARA WIENS ZIELKE

Sara Wiens Zielke was born on March 2, 1895, at Inman, Kan. She moved to Beaver County, Oklahoma in 1903 with her parents, the late Mr. and Mrs. Isaac Wiens. They settled on a homestead east of Turpin.

She accepted Christ as her Savior at the age of 16, was baptized and became a member of the Turpin Mennonite Church at that time. She continued in her faith throughout her life. She enjoyed singing int he choir and working with the community Red Cross drives in Beaver county as a young woman.

On Dec. 20, 1917 she was married to Jake Zielke. They lived on a farm in Beaver County until 1953 when they moved to Liberal, Kan. Four children were born to this marriage. Clifford Eugene and Vernon Oliver preceded their mother in death as infants. Jimmy Zielke and Neva Jean Unruh and their families live in Liberal. There are eight grandchildren. One grandson, Rex Leon, preceded her in death.

Also preceding her in death were four sisters and two brothers. In addition to her husband she is survived by four sisters, Mrs. Susie Friesen of Reedley, Calif., Mrs. Maggie Wedel of Beaver, Okla., Mrs. Agnes Becker and Mrs. Curt Vogt, both of Liberal, and one sister-in-law, Mrs. Katie Wiens of Harrison, Ark.

She departed this life on May 27, 1971 after an extended illness.
