MRS. SARA ZIELKE

Sara Zielke was born to Jacob and Anna Bergen in McPherson County, Kansas on Jan. 31, 1885. At age 17 she moved with her family to Caddo County, Oklahoma.

On March 1, 1903 she and Henry Zielke were married. They moved to Lookout (now known as Coy), Okla. where they homesteaded. Their first child, Anna, was born March 2, 1904 and died in December of the same year. The second child, Marie, was born Oct. 22, 1906.

In 1907 Sara was baptized and received into the Mennonite Brethern [sic Brethren] church.

Elias, the first born son, was born July 26, 1909. The second son, Samuel, was born Aug. 10, 1913 near Coldwater, Kan. where they lived at that time. After another short stay in Oklahoma the family moved to Meade County, Kansas. Here their last child was born Aug. 24, 1921. In 1928 they moved to the Coldwater community, near the town of Dalhart, Texas.

Sara suffered a stroke about one and one-half years ago. Her health gradually failed until she broke a hip about three months ago. She was then bed fast for a month and a half, passing from this life Aug. 29, 1966 in Texline, Texas. Last rites were held in the Baptist Church with burial in Texline cemetery on Aug. 31, 1966. She leaves her four children, 12 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, three brothers, three sisters and many friends.
