PETER E. ZERGER

Peter E. Zerger, son of Joshua and Freni Zerger, was born Nov. 7, 1902, near Moundridge, Kan. He received his elementary education in the Peaceful School District and then attended and graduated from Moundridge High School in 1923.

He was baptized upon his confession of faith by Rev. C. J. Goering on June 21, 1920, and was accepted into the Eden Mennonite Church where he remained a faithful member until his death.

He was married to Viola Ann Flickner on May 27, 1926. For more than 41 years they shared life's joys and sorrows. his wife preceded him in death a little less than three years ago. To this union were born four children, all of whom survive.

A verse that was consistent with his life if found in Psalms 122: 1 "I was glad when they said unto me, Let us go into the house of the Lord." His concern for the spiritual welfare of the church and his fellow man was reflected in his unselfish service. he served faithfully in numerous church offices as well as serving in the Sunday school Department for many years.

He was a farmer all his life. he enjoyed nature's ways, whether it was watching the crops grow or observing the different patterns of weather developing across the plains of Kansas. His 13 grandchildren were a constant source of joy, especially during the last years of his life.

After being in a coma for eight days he quietly passed away on Easter morning, march 29, 1970, having reached the age of 67 years four months, and 22 days.

He leaves to mourn his departure two sons, Vernon and wife Susan of McPherson, Kan., Myron and wife Ardis of Dearborn, Mich., two daughters, Ruby and husband James Unruh of Hesston, kan. and Dorothy and husband Edwin Stucky of Moundridge, Kan., 13 grandchildren, one brother, Dan Zerger, Moundridge, five sisters, Mrs. John J.
